چکیده

The Gene Ontology (GO) (http://www.geneontology.org) is a community bioinformatics resource that represents gene product function through the use of structured, controlled vocabularies. The number of GO annotations of gene products has increased due to curation efforts among GO Consortium (GOC) groups, including focused literature-based annotation and ortholog-based functional inference. The GO ontologies continue to expand and improve as a result of targeted ontology development, including the introduction of computable logical definitions and development of new tools for the streamlined addition of terms to the ontology. The GOC continues to support its user community through the use of e-mail lists, social media and web-based resources.

Identification and prioritization genes related to Hypercholesterolemia QTLs using gene ontology and protein interaction networks

Gene identification represents the first step to a better understanding of the physiological role of the underlying protein and disease pathways, which in turn serves as a starting point for developing therapeutic interventions. Familial hypercholesterolemia is a hereditary metabolic disorder characterized by high low-density lipoprotein cholesterol levels. Hypercholesterolemia is a quantitativ...

Aligning the Parasite Experiment Ontology and the Ontology for Biomedical Investigations Using AgreementMaker

Tremendous amounts of data exist in life sciences along with many bio-ontologies. Though these databases contain important information about gene, proteins, functions, etc., this information is not well utilized due to the heterogeneous formats of these databases. Therefore, ontology alignment (OA) is now very critical for life science domain. Our work utilizes AgreementMaker for OA and describ...

The ChEBI reference database and ontology for biologically relevant chemistry: enhancements for 2013

ChEBI (http://www.ebi.ac.uk/chebi) is a database and ontology of chemical entities of biological interest. Over the past few years, ChEBI has continued to grow steadily in content, and has added several new features. In addition to incorporating all user-requested compounds, our annotation efforts have emphasized immunology, natural products and metabolites in many species. All database entries...

PsychoNet 2 - Contextualized and Enriched Psycholinguistic Commonsense Ontology

PsychoNet 1 has demonstrated the feasibility of integrating psycholinguistic taxonomy, represented in LIWC, and its semantic textual representation in the form of commonsense ontology, represented in ConceptNet. However, various limitations exist in PsychoNet 1, including the lack of concluding context of the concept annotation. In this paper, we address most of those limitations and introduce ...

PANTHER version 11: expanded annotation data from Gene Ontology and Reactome pathways, and data analysis tool enhancements

The PANTHER database (Protein ANalysis THrough Evolutionary Relationships, http://pantherdb.org) contains comprehensive information on the evolution and function of protein-coding genes from 104 completely sequenced genomes. PANTHER software tools allow users to classify new protein sequences, and to analyze gene lists obtained from large-scale genomics experiments. In the past year, major impr...
